Class Descriptions


Ballet

Barre, center, across the floor combinations based on both Cecchetti and Russian techniques. All classes will include 15 minutes of Pilates work. 

Ballet / Contemporary/ Acro Combos

This class will alternate between Ballet and Contemporary technique. Contemporary borrows elements from Classical, Modern, and Jazz styles and has become a popular movement technique showcasing strength, agility, and artistry. This class will include 20-30 minutes of acrobatics.

Creative Movement & Children's Dance Combos

The youngest dancers can enjoy a fun, well structured program just for their developmental age. Each class is designed to fit with ability and attention span of the young child. Children will explore many elements of dance such as body, space, time and force sometimes using props while moving to music, voice and instruments.  

Preballet/Acro Combos ages 5 & 6 years will be introduced to basic ballet and acrobatics;  ballet/tap/ acro combos begin at age 7-8 and will include ballet, tap, modern and musical theatre skills.   All classes will include strengthening and acrobatics.  Special emphasis is placed on learning “The Brain Dance” and increasing brainpower! Through dance movement, the young child ages 3 - 8 years is challenged in all areas of development. 

DiscoverTots 

Now, we are excited to offer   the DiscoverDance Early Childhood Program , a series of movement classes designed by Andrea Trench, movement  educator,  using the renowned works of Gilbert to help   children to learn through the creative and expressive world of dance. Each program offers children the opportunity to develop their natural movement ability in a multi-sensory environment. Music, movement, visuals, and props will enhance your students' love of the art form and the unique conceptual approach to dance education will provide the opportunity for cognitive growth.

​Watch your child’s independence and confidence soar, as our DiscoverTOTS explore and discover the benefits of a more structured dance class. Following directions, waiting for our turn, and collectively problem-solving will encourage emotional and social development. Live singing, musical play, and sensory props will have these little ones moving and grooving with their friends and eager to return to class each week!

Gym Bears

Exclusive for boys!   Ages 5 - 7 years and 8-11 Years! 
Give your son the unique group fitness class designed just for boys by Coach Dan Fulton.
 
This class challenges mind and body while developing physical coordination & skills, muscle endurance, speed and agility and best of all self- confidence and self-esteem! A hard-working and fun group class filled with 30 min of intentional games, physical challenges, conditioning, and teamwork. The second 30 min includes tumbling and gymnastic fun in our gymnastics room.

Coach Dan believes "YOU CAN!" Help your son develop an "I CAN" attitude for life. 

Hip Hop

A funky blend of Jazz and street moves involving a warm up, center work, and across the floor moves. Offered during our Summer months. 

Jazz Combo

Class will include traditional jazz technique as well as modern and  hip-hop. Warm-up, center and across the floor skills are always a part of these classes. Acrobatics instruction is included in all classes. ** Ballet is recommended but not required to take this class.

Acro

Acrobatic Dance, or acro, is the beautiful fusion of classic dance technique and the precision and athleticism of acrobatic elements.  Often defined by unique choreography, acro dancers seamlessly blend musicality, emotional expression, lines and extension with acrobatic movements in a dance context.  Acro is an especially challenging style for dancers to master as training in both dance and acrobatic elements is required.  Acro technique includes balancing, limbering, tumbling and partnering, based in flexibility, contortion and strength.

Tap

Tap is a form of dance using the sounds of tap shoes to make sound. Tap focuses on rhythm,  musicality and   syncopation. Our students will experience various styles including rhythm tap and Irish tap. Many of our classes offer the option to include Tap in our combos. 

Pointe 

All Pointe classes are designed for dancers with extensive Ballet training.  Each class includes Barre, center and across the floor combinations. Placement by teacher is required. Pointe shoe fittings are also required for the first pair of shoes to ensure proper fit. 

Adult Classes

Class offerings range from Jazz, Contemporary, Hip Hop, Tap and Ballet.  We rotate classes throughout the year in 6-week sessions. These classes  are for any adult and fitness level, no dance experience required. All classes include dance technique but will also ensure you will walk away with a great workout.
