Barre, center, across the floor combinations based on both Cecchetti and Russian techniques. All classes will include 15 minutes of Pilates work and or acrobatics.
Ballet / Contemporary Combos
This class will alternate between Ballet and Contemporary technique. Contemporary borrows elements from Classical, Modern, and Jazz styles and has become a popular movement technique showcasing strength, agility, and artistry. These classes will also have an acrobatic component to each class.
Creative Movement & Children's Dance Combos
The youngest dancers can enjoy an innovative, fun, well structured program for their developmental age. Each class is designed to fit with ability and attention span of the young child. Children will explore many elements of dance such as body, space, time and force sometimes using props while moving to music, voice and instruments. Pre-ballet combos will be introduced to basic ballet and acrobatics, ballet/tap/ acro combos will include ballet, acrobatics and tap, modern and musical theatre skills. All classes will do strengthening and acrobatic skill to enhance core strength. Special emphasis is placed on learning “The Brain Dance” and increasing brainpower! Through dance movement, the young child is challenged in all areas of development.

** This class challenges mind and body while developing physical coordination & skills, muscle endurance, speed and agility, team work and best of all, self- confidence and self-esteem! A hard-working and fun group class filled 1/2 hr of games, physical challenges, conditioning, and teamwork with Coach Dan and 1/2 hour of gymnastics.

A funky blend of Jazz and street moves involving a warm up, center work, and across the floor moves.
Class will include traditional jazz technique as well as modern and hip-hop. Warm-up, center and across the floor skills are always a part of these classes. All jazz classes have 1/2 hour of acrobatics. ** Ballet is recommended but not required to take this class.
What is "Acro"?
Acrobatic Dance, or acro, is the beautiful fusion of classic dance technique and the precision and athleticism of acrobatic elements. Often defined by unique choreography, acro dancers seamlessly blend musicality, emotional expression, lines and extension with acrobatic movements in a dance context. Acro is an especially challenging style for dancers to master as training in both dance and acrobatic elements is required. Acro technique includes balancing, limbering, tumbling and partnering, based in flexibility, contortion and strength.
The world of dance is changing, and to have a competitive edge for the possibility of dancing whether for a professional company, college dance team or the entertainment world such as Broadway, DisneyWorld etc. requires more strength and ability to dance "big" with technique and heart and soul. We believe at LFSD this means to be able to include in choreography, not only jumps,turns and extensions but strong off the floor moves and even gymnastic skills. More skill and strength frees a dancer to perform from the "heart and soul" with no restrictions. It is something we as dancers and artists are always striving for more of, and continually want to excel more in! Goals are to be set and broken and set again...always soaring to be more technical and more expressive! Therefore, at LFSD, we now have been including a strong acro program to all our classes. We believe in giving your dancer excellence in training including the competitive edge through the skill of acrobatics. Our instructors will continually be excellng in instruction through our Acrobatic Arts Testing and Certifications.
