"Strict politeness is in order during class. Dancers should show respect for those who are older or more senior, and behave courteously toward their peers. That means senior students choose where they want to stand in class - it's not appropriate to preempt them. The teacher deserves the dancers' complete attention. He or she should not have to repeat instructions. Talking or practicing on the sides when dancers are waiting for their turn to cross the floor is disturbing. It shows more consideration of others to simply stand quietly. If a dancer bumps into someone during a combination, they should apologize whether or not they are at fault." -The Ballet Book, American Ballet Theatre, 2003
